Wakht is a simple Urdu word for time. Our Sanskrit speaking brethren more often use “Prahar”. Prahar is about 3hr during time and so there are 8 Prahar in a 24hr day. Essentially, they’re both considered synonyms usually used to limit a time when Raag is executed.
This website is created to help the masses learn a bit about Hindustani Classical Music and bring Qawwali awareness back to the masses. Raga music has somehow made it into our daily lives, and Qawwali has used music as a vehicle to travel around the globe. Let’s not squander it by ignoring its teachings. I personally believe that this style of music in its essence comes from a very divine origin. But I also believe that it should flourish with those that value it. So Let’s Embrace It!
