The Chaal if Darbari enforces that Ga and Dha be Andolan or have oscilating character. In Arohi, Ga is done with a very light hint of Re, while Dha is done with just a hint of Pa. Similarly in Amrohi, Ga and Dha are done with a pinch of Ma and Ni, respectively. Another thing to note about Darbari is that is the emphasis the heavy use of Gamak and Meend and all Saptak.
Often known as Raag Darbari Kanada, this is known as one of the most famous Raag composed by Mian Tansen. However, sources reveal that like many others, Raag Darbari was initially created by Hazrat Ameer Khusro who gave it the distinct Andolan Chaal on Sur “Ga” and Sur “Ni”. However, Mian Tansen later revised the Raag in his own way, but never named it after his patent “Mian Ki” before the name of Darbari, like he often used to with many other Raag.

Darbari had been popular even before the time of Emperor Akbar, but after it being played for 6 days straight in his court, Darbari became distintly more well known. It has a very trembling affect on many listeners as well as a feeling of pathos. You will very rarely hear happy frolicking verses associated with Raag Darbar, as it is a very serious and many ways, a very Yearning and Devotional Raag.
